The number of Staff that you have is completely dependent on your situation. If you are forced to work with a small staff, you must organize them and train them to do the best job possible with the fewest people. With proper placement and training you can run a large establishment with a small Staff. It is not an optimal situation, but it is possible.

      Best of luck…

  2. I am currently the doorman at a bar, and it also looks like I am slated to be the head of security. I have held both positions in the past at various places and have a fair amount of bar experience. My problem is this, I’m having trouble finding anyone who will do the job that I can do at the door, but I feel that I really need to be on the floor to be head of security. I find myself having to abandon my post at the door more and more to either back up or take the lead when we have confrontations. Is there a way to do both or am I just spinning my wheels? This is not a very big city and there’s not a big pool of people to draw from. I’m really having trouble finding people who want to work, are dependable, and most importantly, that I have confidence in.
    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

    1. This an addition to my earlier comment, I should have given more information. The bar that I am working in holds around 280 people, we don’t usually have that many but occasionally it gets pretty tight sometimes. It is split up into two rooms with lots of corners, nooks and out of sight places. I have one man besides myself and two DJs that can double as security. I know that is not the optimal situation, but it’s how it is being done at the moment. Oh, and to make it even better, we have resort status so we don’t have to close at 2 am and usually stay open until 5 or 6.. What we wind up with is a late rush of people who have already been drinking when the other bars close.
      Thanks again,
      Keith
